FIRST AID AT WORK RE-QUALIFICATION

First Aid at Work Re-qualification – RQF Level 3

Duration  – 2 days (12 hours)

If your First Aid at Work (FAW) certificate is going to expire in the next 3 months, then this 2 day course is the ideal first aid at work refresher course, and will re-qualify you as a first aider at work for another 3 years.

Alongside meeting H&S regulations, your skills will also be refreshed to keep them sharp and ready in the event of a first aid emergency.

Aims

By renewing these skills with this first aid re-qualification course, it ensures that you will be able to act decisively in high-stress situations where a colleague has had an accident or fallen ill.

The course is HSE recommended and complies with Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations and the approved code of practice L74 guidelines for the re-qualification of workplace first aiders.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course delegates will have covered a wide range of subjects including:

  • Legalities, responsibilities, first aid provision and reporting  
  • Bandaging
  • Assessment of the situation
  • Heart attacks
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  • Head injuries
  • Fractures and spinal injuries
  • Chest injuries
  • Control of bleeding Asthma
  • Poisoning
  • Shock (including Anaphylaxis)
  • Burns    
  • Choking
  • Epilepsy  
  • Eye injuries
  • Resuscitation and AED awareness
  • Sprains and strains
  • Diabetes

Assessment and Certification

Practical assessment is ongoing by the instructor each day, along with a written assessment. .A three year, Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (Level 6 in Scotland) will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment.

This qualification is valid for 3 years.
