BABY MASSAGE & FIRST AID FOR PARENTS

Baby massage is a selection of gentle strokes and moves that you will complete with your baby. It is a fantastic opportunity for you to spend some quality time with your baby away from life’s daily stresses.

Our baby massage course offers babies and their parents more than just the practical strokes of how to massage your baby, we combine it with practical information about Paediatric First Aid.

Each weekly session covers the massage strokes and gentle stretches, as well as time for discussing relevant topics around first aid, such as choking, resuscitation, febrile convulsion etc.

We teach the traditional and authentic baby massage routine over five-weekly sessions for groups and over three weekly sessions for one-on-one courses. Each session lasts approximately 90 minutes.

Why massage your baby?

Evidents suggests that parents and their baby benefit from the effects of positive touch and that regular massage supports the physiological and psychological development of a newborn. Building closer relationships with your infant through baby massage can also help mothers with post-natal depression.

Massaging your infant is fun, relaxing and a great bonding experience for both parents and their baby.

Combining it with Paediatric First Aid

The number one story or question I always hear while teaching my First Aid courses is "are we covering choking" and in particular by participants who have (newborn) children. Having a little bit of knowledge about how to respond when your child needs first aid takes away some of the anxiety and helplessness a parent can have.

At FAB we love that our courses support the development of babies using massage, build closer relationships between parents and their baby and giving the parents the knowledge of what to do in those circumstances you need to act quick and decisive when the health of your child is at risk.

Baby massage is available for full term babies from about 8 weeks to crawling. If your baby is under 6 weeks or was born pre-term, please contact us prior to booking.
To attend your baby must be well and not have had vaccinations within the last 3 days before class.
